Shipping policy
Where we ship
We ship only to the lower 48 United States (including Washington, DC). We don't ship to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, other US territories, APO/FPO addresses, or outside the US.
Orders outside Indiana ship only after NPIP approval. Our NPIP (National Poultry Improvement Plan) certification is pending and is expected before our first ship week. We will not ship out of state until it is approved. If approval is not in place by your ship week, we will cancel your order and refund you in full.
When we ship
- Eggs ship Monday through Wednesday so they don't sit in a post office over the weekend.
- Orders placed by Thursday at 11:59 pm (Eastern) can ship the following week, subject to availability and the week you reserved.
How we ship and what it costs
- USPS Priority Mail: flat $32 per box. Each box holds up to 12 eggs.
- USPS Priority Mail Express is offered at checkout as an optional upgrade, priced at the calculated USPS rate plus a handling fee.
- You'll get tracking by email when your order ships. Once eggs are with USPS, we can't control delays, but we'll help file a USPS claim if there's a problem.
Weather holds
If the forecast at either our location or yours is above 90°F or below 32°F during the ship window, we'll hold your eggs. We'll email you, and your order moves to the next safe ship week. A weather hold isn't a cancellation. If you'd rather not wait, you can ask for a full refund instead.
When your eggs arrive
- Open the box right away and check for damage. If any eggs are broken, email photos to hello@flowerhens.com within 24 hours of delivery (see our Refund policy).
- Let the eggs rest pointy end down for 12–24 hours at room temperature (about 60–70°F) before setting them in the incubator.
- Don't refrigerate them.
- Shipped eggs usually hatch at lower rates than eggs that aren't shipped. We can't guarantee hatch rates.
Local pickup
Free pickup is available at Douglass Farms in Boone County, Indiana, during set pickup windows. Please contact us at least 24 hours before you arrive. For our flock's health, please don't enter bird areas or bring birds with you.
